June 27 "Underneath It All" The undergarments that shaped both women’s fashion and their bodes 1750 to 1900, 2pm.
The Bronck Museum is pleased to present the first Curator’s Tour of the 2025, “Underneath It All” will explore what women wore or didn’t wear under all their elaborate gowns.
Ladies dressed in period costumes will be on hand to model both gowns and the under garments necessary to shape and support the ever-changing fashions in women’s clothing from 1775 -1865. The program will also include examples of historic undergarments from the Bronck Museum’s collections. Curator Shelby Mattice will discuss the social and physical impact of their clothing on the lives of women.
The “Underneath it All” Curator’s Tour will begin at 2PM on Friday, June 27th.
July 25
Before Martha, The challenges of the preparation and preservation of family food 1700-1820, 2pm.
The Bronck Museum is pleased to announce the second Curator’s Tour of the 2025 museum season set for this Friday, July 25.
The “Before Martha” (Stewart that is) tour will consider cooking methods, equipment and the challenges of preparing daily meals from the 1660s to the 1830s. Tour participants will visit three different hearths at the Bronck farmstead to explore the evolution of the fireplaces, utensils and “improvements” for preparing family meals.
The “Before Martha” Tour will begin at 2PM this Friday, July 25th. Tickets for the tour must be purchased at https://www.gchistory.org/curator-tours. Seating is limited for these tours. Admission for this special tour is $25. The Bronck Museum is located at 90 County Route 42, Coxsackie.
